Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar are leaving no stone unturned in promoting their upcoming film Dhadak. Both of them have been travelling around the country to promote the film.

They recently appeared on a TV channel to talk about their films and were asked about the first impression their respective families had about Dhadak. Speaking about his elder brother Shahid, Ishaan said cheekily, “Shahid has been a big inspiration for me. I’ve learnt a lot from him. He’s been a great artist in the family. He’s 15 years elder to me, so he makes it a point to remind me about his seniority.”

Ishaan also said that after watching the special screening of Dhadak, a known filmmaker had called him to say that the chemistry between him and Janhvi reminded him about his first romance. He didn’t reveal the name of the filmmaker.

Talking about the constant comparison people make between her and her mother Sridevi, Janhvi said, “I don’t think anyone can ever become like Sridevi, be it acting or comparison to her as a person. She is simply untouchable.”

Then they were put on compatibility test to see how well they knew each other. As part of the exercise, both were asked to answer on behalf of each to see their level of compatibility. Janhvi was asked, “which actor did Ishaan consider as an inspiration other than those in his family?” Janhvi replied, “Dilip (Kumar) sir.” Ishaan agreed.

The anchor then asked Ishaan a question about Janhvi. “Who does Janhvi want to emulate in acting?” Ishaan replied, “Closer home, her mother (Sridevi). Then Meryl Streep and also Madhubala and Meena Kumari.” Janhvi said that her co-actor was spot on with his answer about her.

Their camaraderie was such that when an audience asked them to share the best compliments they had received till date about Dhadak, the two actors decided to speak on behalf of each other rather than themselves.

Janhvi said, “There’s a big artist, who watched the movie, and called Ishaan a day later to say that he played his character in Dhadak so powerfully that he was going to address him as Madhur henceforth.”

Sharing the compliments that Janhvi received, Ishaan said, “The same artist had also called Janhvi and said that it he didn’t feel like as if she was acting in the film. He also said that watching Janhvi made him feel that she was in love with her craft.”

Dhadak will hit the theatres worldwide on 20 July.
