Police in West Bengal said on Thursday that TV actress Payal Chakraborty was found dead in mysterious circumstances on Wednesday at a hotel in Siliguri.
According to reports, the hotel staff found her lying dead after they opened the door on Wednesday. The hotel staff said that they were forced to open the door after they failed to get any response from the actress despite several attempts. Her room was locked from inside.
Payal, who had acted TV series such as Ek Masher Sahitya, Goenda Ginni, and Chokher Tara Tui, had reportedly checked into the north Bengal hotel on Tuesday and was scheduled to leave for Gangtok in Sikkim the following day.
She had recently divorced her husband and was reportedly going through depression. She’s survived by a son.
After Payal was found dead, Siliguri police informed her in south Kolkata.The cops have sent her body for post-mortem, but they suspect it’s a case of suicide. The 36-year-old actress was also expected to bag a big role in the upcoming film Kelo.
TV and film actress Sayantani Guhathakurta was quoted as saying, “I can’t believe that she is no more. I have done a movie with her. She was a very good human being and was quite dedicated about her work.”
