Farmers protest was ‘politically motivated’, Centre helped farmers: BSK

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh has called the recent ongoing farmers protest at Delhi-UP border as ‘politically motivated’ and said that farmers are being used as ‘fodder’ by opposition parties.

Defending the government, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) which is an affiliate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has claimed on Tuesday that farmers are being used as fodders by BJP’s opponents, HT reports.

The BKS said that the Centre has “taken one step at a time” to resolve the farmers’ issues, as elections are close by the hot-much debated topic would be farm crisis in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

“This [way of protest] is not what farmers do…they don’t damage national property for their own self-interest. Farmers believe in ahimsa (non-violence) and they should seek a resolution to their problems through samvaad (dialogue),” said Badri Narayan Chaudhary, BKS general secretary.

But Sociology Professor SS Jodhka faculty of Jawaharlal Nehru University countering BKS stated: “The farm and rural sectors are being largely ignored; there is no serious engagement with people.”
