Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi took politics to a new low on Tuesday after she was seen involved in an ugly spat with an AIADMK MLA during a public event.
The event was organised in Puducherry’s Uppalam constituency to declare Puducherry an Open Defecation free Union Territory. Bedi had taken to her Twitter to inform her followers about the Tuesday’s event. She had written, “Historical day for Puducherry. Thks to relentless inspiration & support extended to UT by GOI that GOP cud achieve this status of Open Defecation free. We assembled today to recognise the hard work done by public officials & members of the community in achieving it. @PMOIndia (sic)”

However, during the event, the local AIADMK MLA, Anbazhagan, was incensed on not finding his name in the list of speakers. To avoid the public embarrassment, the MLA was asked to speak on the occasion.
But, just when he was listing out the achievements of his constituency, Bedi abruptly asked him to end his speech. Unfazed by Bedi’s reminders, Anbazhagan carried on, forcing Bedi to order the organisers to switch off his mic.

This left the MLA utterly incensed as he publicly lost his cool. In the video, going viral (watch below), he’s seen engaged in a public spat with Bedi, who asks him to leave the stage. To which, Anbazhagan is heard ordering Bedi to leave. This prompts the audience to cheer the MLA and boo the controversial LG.

Later, reacting to the development, Bedi termed the MLA’s reaction ‘truly unfortunate.’ She said, “According to the minute to minute program, the MLA was not even scheduled to speak. He compelled his way before the start of the function to be a part of speaking schedule. Once presentation program was over, he came to the mike and went on and on beyond reasonable time when there was long program to follow.
“Awards too had to be given to the deserving. But he rejected any such written slips/ messages and scoffed any requests from Honble Cabinet Ministers and me personally. Since I was presiding over the event I intervened and personally requested yet again. He rejected. I then asked for the mike to be switched off. He continued to be rude. To all present there. Finally after all that he wanted to say, he left in a huff.”
Bedi said that this was not the first time the MLA had ‘done something like this’ adding that ‘I have witnessed similar misbehaviour of his earlier too where also he left in a huff when he asked to be respect others time too.”
