A huge controversy has erupted after several TikTok videos of dancing girls and boys inside Delhi’s Jama Masjid went viral on social media platforms. According to some media reports, the Jama Masjid administration decided to ban the entry of tourists after the TikTok videos went viral.

Although, the mosque PRO said that these videos were old and being circulated now to create mischief, the development has become a topic of intense social media conversation. One social media user, who shared one of these videos, wrote on Twitter, “Jama Masjid has now become a picnic spot. Allah save all of us.”

One of the videos (see above) has two foreigner girls dancing and doing handstand inside the historic mosque. In another video, a group of boys are seen dancing to a film track.  Faced with outrage over these acts, the administration has now banned the entry of tourists inside the mosque.

“During prayer time, that is five times a day, namazis and non-namazis can access the two small domes only through the main dome route. We want to restrict the area occupied by people, so we can keep a watch on youngsters making such videos as music is not allowed inside a masjid,” Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid was quoted by India Express.

The Madras High Court had last month directed the Indian government to ban TikTok Mobile Application on the grounds that it promoted pornography.
