Ashoorkhana restoration: Caretaker alleges MIM interference

Hyderabad: The restoration work of the more than 400 years old Badshahi Ashoorkhana was allegedly stopped by MIM’s Yakutpura MLA Ahmed Pasha Qadri to support encroacher.

According to a report in New Indian Express, Mir Abbas Ali Moosavi, the caretaker of Badshahi Ashoorkhana, said the MLA Quadri got the work stopped on the chabutra and guard room, which are part of the Badshahi Ashoorkhana, located in front of Madina Building.

Mir Abbas said that the chabutra and guard room area were under the control of encroachers since 2009. He also alleged that the encroachers had the blessing of the MIM.

The then caretaker of the Ashoorkhana took the matter to HC, which directed the state to reclaim the land and restore the parts to the caretaker. After that direction, restoration work was started on the Niyaz Khana, mini Ashoor Khana, Sarai Khana, Makane Mujawer and on the main entrance except chabutra and guard room.

After several petitions, the in-charge of Telangana Heritage wrote a letter to GHMC Commissioner saying “…Chabutra and guard room are lying without proper fencing and there is a possibility of encroachments again. Therefore, I request you to kindly take up the beautification works on the chabutra and guard room,”— the NIE quoted in its report.

Mir Abbas alleged that the work started recently based on the orders issued by GHMC Commissioner but on Monday, Ahmed Pasha Qadri came and stopped the works. When he was shown the HC orders, he tore the papers, he further alleged.
