Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday launched a tirade against the BJP and said that the gruesome murder of Vivek Tiwari in Lucknow showed that the saffron party did not care about protecting the interests of Hindus.
Responding to the murder of Tiwari, who was gunned down by a constable from UP police, Kejriwal wrote, “No. Even though Vivek Tiwari was a Hindu. BJP does not protect the interests of Hindus.”
One of his previous social media posts asked why Tiwari, a Hindu, was killed in a fake encounter. He wrote, “Vivek Tiwari was a Hindu. Then why was he killed. BJP leader are raping girls across the country. Wake up now. The BJP is not the friend of Hindus. The party will not hesitate in killing every Hindu if this is what helps it achieve the power.”
The Delhi chief minister also tweeted saying that he had spoken to the deceased’s wife on the phone. Kejriwal’s comments came a day after the family members of Tiwari, an executive with Apple, slammed the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for his murder.
Reacting to the news, Kalpana Tiwari, the victim’s wife, had said that she was happy when Yogi Adityanath was made the chief minister of the state since her family had voted for the BJP in the last year’s assembly elections.
“Which law gave Uttar Pradesh police a right to shoot him? The cops are framing him saying he was in an inappropriate position when he was shot, but if he was wrong the cops should have arrested him from his residence,” Kalpana had told ABP News.
Later, Tiwary’s brother-in-law too had termed it a murder and demanded justice for the deceased.
Vishnu said, “It’s simple. We elected Yogi ji. If we elected (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji. we did so for better law rule of law in the state. My brother-in-law is murdered, my sister is kept in the dark. They are making wild allegations against my brother-in-law. But even if did (was with female colleague in objectionable position), who gave the right to the police to kill a civilian?
“Is it Jammu and Kashmir that you can kill anyone on mere suspicion. This is Uttar Pradesh and not Jammu and Kashmir. I want Yogi ji to come here and explain. The dead body will not move from here until Yogi ji comes to our house.”
Vivek was shot dead on Friday night in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area after he allegedly refused to stop his car. The autopsy report has reportedly confirmed that he died after being shot in his head.
Reacting to Tiwari’s murder, Adityanath’s cabinet colleague and the state’s irrigation minister, Dharmpal Singh, had controversially said that only criminals were being killed by the police in Uttar Pradesh. He had told reporters, “Look, there hasn’t been any mistake in the encounter. Bullets have hit only those who are real criminals.”
