Bollywood has been rocked by allegations of award-fixing with stars such as Kangana Ranaut, Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh being in the eye of a storm. What triggered the full-blown controversy after several media reports suggested that Shahid Kapoor had walked out of this year’s Star Screen Awards after the organisers did not honour their word to confer an award to the Kabir Singh star. If this was not enough, Kangana Ranaut’s sister sensationally alleged that Alia Bhatt had fixed her award at the same ceremony.
Reacting to a video of Alia making a backdoor exit from the award function, Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chahel wrote sarcastically, “Chalo itni honesty toh hai ki yeh kaam chup ke kar rahi ho, sabke samne nahin, achcha laga kuch toh bacha hai andar abhi bhi jo rok raha hai. (I’m glad that she is doing this secretly and not openly in front of everyone. Felt good that there’s something that’s still stopping her.)”

In the video, a woman (allegedly Alia’s manager), is heard requesting the paparazzi to not post the video of the Gully Boy actress with her award before 7 PM. One of her subsequent tweets read, “Only saving grace was that she went from the back door and didn’t give acceptance speech in front of the live audience. Chullu bhar he sahi thodi imaandari abhi baki hai.”
Star Screen Awards were held on Sunday with the programme being broadcast on a later date. The award function received bad press for another allegation of fixing after Shahid Kapoor allegedly walked out of the function and refused to perform his segment. This was after, according to several media reports, the organisers did not honour their promise to give Shahid Best Actor’s Award as was reportedly agreed earlier. Irked by the sheer ‘unprofessionalism,’ Shahid walked out of the show and even refused to perform.
His award was later given to Ranveer Singh, who won the Best Actor and Best Entertainer Awards. He took to Instagram to share his photo with both the awards. His caption read, “Gosh! 
Double Whammy! 
‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ for #GullyBoy & ‘Entertainer of the Year’ at the #StarScreenAwards.”
Both Ranveer and Alia had acted opposite each other in Gully Boy, which is also India’s official entry to the next edition of the Oscars.
Shahid’s Kabir Singh went on to become the biggest jit of his career. The film is also one of the biggest blockbusters of 2019.
